The fact that officials working in the Home Office have been told to take precautions to protect their security is a testament to the potential risk this attack poses to public servants. This situation highlights the class conflict inherent in the Conservative Party’s authoritarian agenda, which seeks to divide and conquer by demonising public servants.
I would refute the suggestion that the email attack on civil servants may not have been approved by Braverman. Regardless of whether Braverman personally approved the email, it was sent out in her name and thus bears her responsibility. Furthermore, this attempt to distance Braverman from the email does not absolve her of the responsibility to uphold the political impartiality of the civil service. Additionally, the fact that Braverman criticised government lawyers for being overly cautious about approving policies likely to face legal challenge highlights the Conservative Party’s disregard for the rule of law and demonstrates their willingness to prioritise their political agenda over the public interest.
Furthermore, this attempt to distance Braverman from the email does not absolve her of the responsibility to uphold the political impartiality of the civil service.
